The Money That Goes Into Balancing Your Food Budget

Adjusting to the endless number of food options a city offers can really. Put a dent in your food budget. You can literally get mac and cheese delivered at 4 a.m. if you want it. You can have groceries delivered, entire meal kits dropped at your door, and you never have the leave the warmth and security of your bed while buying. But it can all add up fast.
One of the best ways we’ve found to both socialize and reign in an unwieldy food budget is to cook at home, and do so in a manner that gives you the most bang for your buck.
By planning out your meals and menus — and watching for sales — we were able to buy $59.87 worth of groceries, yielding 14 meals in total. The cost is low, at $4.28 per meal, and the savings, compared to other options, were gigantic. What started as two whole chickens that cost just over $5, ended in $185.30 of savings, when compared to what we would have spent on delivery. Worth the extra elbow grease.www.forbes.com
